Almond Milk

So my mom was doing some research and she found out that almond milk is better for you than soy milk. That is why now me and my mom started triying out different types of substitute milks. We got rice milk, almond milk, hazelnut milk, coconut milk and chocolate coconut milk. They're all really tastey!

Chocolate cherry cupcakes

I just tried out a recipe for vegan chocolate cherry cream cupcakes. Now these cupcakes sounded good but I personally think that the frosting is to thick so I decided to change it. First I made vegan chocolate cupcakes. Then I took the middle out of the cupcake and put in a cherry mixture that I made. After that I made chocolate ganache and smothered it over the top of the cupcakes. They turned out really good.

Vegan Cupcakes

I love this book!

It's a great cookbook that includes delicious frosting and cupcake recipes that are vegan! I've tried out a few of the recipes and my friends and class mates have all been really impressed!

.

These are vegan cupcakes that I baked for Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee. The little sugar British flags are made with eggs so they're not vegan but everything else is vegan including the frosting

Vegan while traveling

It's been really hard only eating Vegan food while traveling in Europe. Most meals at least include cheese. Luckily now that lent is over I don't have to be super strict about not eating cheese. I am strict about not eating meat and eggs. I try not to eat dairy products but sometimes I do. I do eat fish though so, that's what I mainly ate during our latest trip to Germany, Austria and driving through a few other countries. I ate a lot of salads on that trip. :)

Only six more days!

Yay, Only six more days until the end of Lent! :)
I had a hard time finding something to eat at Jamie Oliver's Italian. Apparently all their pasta is made with eggs. Well soon I'll be trying to find Italian food in ITALY!! YAY only 6 more days!

Ups and downs

Some of the ups about being vegan so far are that I get to try lots of new recipes and I don't have to think about how the meat I'm eating has been treated with chemicals. Although there are some things that have been not so great. Like how when we went out for lunch I had to get a Thai vegetable curry, which I happen to dislike curry. I also almost ate cheese because, I had to baby sit and we had Subway, and I got a vegitarian sandwich and right as I bit in to it I noticed that it was the type of bread that has cheese melted on the bread.
I quickly spat the bread out and got another sandwich and picked of the meat and cheese. So it's been hard paying absolute attention to all of my food but, at least I've eaten only vegan so far!

Vegan Treats

My mom made delicious vegan nutella and she also made vegan pancakes for breakfast! Mmmmmm!

Vegan Tomorrow

Tomorrow I'll be vegan so today's my last day to eat meat and animal products. That's why I'm having Jambalaya (below) for my last non vegan meal! Yum! I'm also having it because today is Mardi Gras! :)

Going vegan

So, I started this blog to track my 40 days of Lent in which I will be going entirely vegan. I'm already used to eating vegan seeing as my mom always cooks vegan meals for dinner. Also for those of you who don't know vegans are people who don't eat meat or any animal products. They tend to be a lot healthier and they don't get cancer as easily as meat eating people. You might be thinking "But, where do they get their protein, iron and calcium?". Well, there is actually a lot of calcium in spinach, tofu and broccoli and you can get iron from baked potatoes, raisins, whole grain breads and more. As for protein there's beans, peanut butter, and nuts in general. That's all for now! :)
