This Friday I went to an event called Let's Move. It was hosted by Michelle Obama! We got to see her and a lot of famous but retired Olympians like Nadia Comeneci!(She's a gymnast if you don't know) We also got to see the band The Wanted from the front of the crowd! Also we got to play lots of activities!  

                                                      It was a really fun event!

Chocolate cherry cupcakes

I just tried out a recipe for vegan chocolate cherry cream cupcakes. Now these cupcakes sounded good but I personally think that the frosting is to thick so I decided to change it. First I made vegan chocolate cupcakes. Then I took the middle out of the cupcake and put in a cherry mixture that I made. After that I made chocolate ganache and smothered it over the top of the cupcakes. They turned out really good.

Sailing

 This Thursday I went on a sailing trip. Unfortunately it was sprinkling when we went! First we learned about sailing and how to sail. Then we got harnesses on and were able to lean out over the water. During this part we all got wet because if you pulled you would tip the boat to the side! After that we took turns capsizing a small boat and then turning it upright again. I accidentally turned it all the way upside down and only managed to get it on its side again before I needed help. By the time it was upright again I barely had enough strength to pull myself in to the boat! It was lots of fun altogether and luckily once you got wet you didn't even notice the rain!

Settlers of Catan

My family and I just started playing the board game Settlers of Catan. It's lots of fun even though I've only won once.When we first started playing we didn't know exactly what we were doing but, now we're all strategizing the moves that we do. we have all really enjoyed playing it! :)

Olympic Torch

The Olympic torch is coming through our town! I can't wait to see it! We've got Olympic tickets too synchronized swimming (which I used to do) and woman's football (which will be at Wembley Stadium!) We're having a party at our house because we live in the town center.

Slytherin Wins

Slytherin won the house cup! They had about 270,000 more points than the Gryffindors who were in second place. The Ravenclaws were in third and the Hufflepuffs were last.

Inside out and back again

    I just finished reading this book and it was fantastic! It was about a girl who lives in South Vietnam. The war has just arrived in her town so her family decides to get on a boat and sail away. They spend about a week on the sea and they eventually get to America. I especially loved hearing about what she thought of Americans. One thing she said was that we hissed our s's a lot and that whoever invented English must have loved snakes! Over all it was a great book!

Pottermore

I can't wait for the House cup on Pottermore! Only 1 more day! I'm a Gryffindor! I'm not sure if were going to win though because when we could see the scores last week Slytherin was winning.

I wouldn't mind if Ravenclaw won though because half my family are Ravenclaws and one of my friends is a Ravenclaw.

Italy

Last Spring break we went to Italy! The first two pictures are of Venice. The one below on the left is the Colosseum. The one on the right is Pompeii. Below them on the left is Florence and on the right is Pisa. It was a great trip and it was really fun!

A true story of mine

In Bacharach, Germany they are famous for their wine. You can tell especially because they have grapes growing right there on the hillside which is very steep. After eating dinner in town we were walking by some grapes and my mom says that she will pay whoever gets to the top first a euro. Now that's not a lot so my sister smartly says she's not going to go up there. I on the other hand decide to take the challenge. I start running up the hill but about half way up I start walking. By the time I get 3/4's of the way up I'm practically pulling my self up the hill because it's so steep. Finally I get to the top, pitying the people who have to pick all these grapes.When I got to the top I heard loud noises that in my tiredness I mistook for Police Sirens. I quickly assumed that I wasn't supposed to have climbed up there and after smiling for my mom's picture I ran down to the bottom. I asked what the noises were and my parents told me that it was just vuvuzelas because tonight happened to be the football match between Germany and Portugal. I sighed with relief and slowly and shakily started walking back to our hotel. I was so tired that I didn't even remember to get my euro.

Germany

This Summer we went to Germany and it was great!

First we went to a town called Bacharach on the Rhein river. It was quintessential German! All of the town was gorgeous!












Then we went to a Mozart dinner in Salzburg, Austria with live music and opera singers! It was pretty cool especially because all the performers were dressed like people in Mozart's time.

Vegan Cupcakes

I love this book! 

It's a great cookbook that includes delicious frosting and cupcake recipes that are vegan! I've tried out a few of the recipes and my friends and class mates have all been really impressed!

 These are vegan cupcakes that I baked for Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee. The little sugar British flags are made with eggs so they're not vegan but everything else is vegan including the frosting
